Repiping Services in Jacksonville & Ponte Vedra, FL
Repiping is the process of replacing the old, failing water pipes in your home with new, reliable ones, and for a lot of Northeast Florida homes, it’s not a question of if but when. If you’re dealing with low water pressure, recurring leaks, rust-colored water, or a slab leak, the pipes themselves are usually the problem, not the fixtures.
Much of the housing stock in Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra was built with copper, galvanized steel, or polybutylene piping, and all three have a shelf life. Galvanized pipes corrode from the inside out. Polybutylene becomes brittle and fails without warning. Even copper eventually pits and pinhole-leaks, especially in our humid, coastal environment. PV Plumbing & Air has spent over 12 years repiping homes across Northeast Florida, and we know exactly what fails here and why. We’re family-owned, fully licensed (FL #CFC1430660), and we back our work with a long-term warranty.

What Is Home Repiping?
Repiping means replacing the water pipes that run throughout your home, rather than patching one leak at a time. When pipes reach the end of their life, repair becomes a losing game: you fix one pinhole leak, and another shows up a month later somewhere else. Repiping solves the whole problem at once.
There are a few approaches:
- Whole-home repiping — replacing all of the water supply lines in the house. This is the right call when the entire system is the same age and material and is failing across the board.
- Partial repiping — replacing only the runs that are failing, while leaving sound sections in place. This works when the problem is isolated to a specific area.
- Pipe replacement vs. repair — repair makes sense for a single, isolated issue in an otherwise healthy system. Replacement makes sense when failures are recurring and the underlying material is the problem.
Why do pipes fail? A few reasons, and in Northeast Florida we see all of them:
- Corrosion — galvanized steel rusts from the inside, narrowing the pipe and contaminating your water
- Age-related deterioration — every material has a lifespan, and a lot of local homes are past it
- Water chemistry — hard water and minerals accelerate scale buildup and corrosion
- Slab leaks — pipes routed under the concrete slab can corrode and leak, causing hidden, costly damage
When should a home be repiped instead of repaired?
If you’ve had multiple leaks in a short span, your water is discolored, your pressure is dropping across the whole house, or your pipes are galvanized or polybutylene, it’s time to repipe. A good rule of thumb: once you’re fixing the same plumbing system more than once or twice a year, you’re spending money on repairs that would be better invested in a permanent fix.
Signs Your Home May Need Repiping
Recurring Pipe Leaks
One leak is a repair. Repeated leaks across the house are a sign the whole system is wearing out.
Low Water Pressure
When corrosion and scale narrow the inside of your pipes, pressure drops, especially noticeable in older Jacksonville neighborhoods like Riverside, Avondale, and Springfield where original plumbing is common.
Rusty or Discolored Water
Brown or yellow water, particularly when you first turn on the tap, is a classic sign of corroding galvanized pipes.
Visible Corrosion
Green or white buildup, flaking, or discoloration on exposed pipes means corrosion is well underway.
Water Stains on Walls or Ceilings
Stains, bubbling paint, or soft spots often point to a hidden leak inside the walls.
Aging Plumbing Systems
Homes built before the 1990s, common throughout Jacksonville and established Ponte Vedra neighborhoods, frequently still have their original copper, galvanized, or polybutylene piping.
Slab Leak Problems
Warm spots on the floor, the sound of running water with everything off, or unexplained spikes in your water bill can indicate a slab leak that calls for repiping.
If your home is in an older Jacksonville neighborhood or an established Ponte Vedra community and you’re seeing these signs, it’s worth getting an assessment before a small problem becomes a flooded ceiling.

Our Plumbing Repiping Services
Whole-Home Repiping
Complete replacement of your home’s water supply system. We remove the old failing pipes and install a brand-new system, restoring pressure, water quality, and reliability throughout the house.
Partial Repiping
When only certain runs are failing, we replace those targeted sections while leaving sound piping in place, a cost-effective solution for isolated problems.
Water Supply Line Replacement
Replacing the main and branch supply lines that carry water to your fixtures, eliminating leaks and restoring pressure.
Polybutylene Pipe Replacement
Polybutylene piping (common in homes built from the late 1970s through the mid-1990s) is prone to sudden failure. We replace it with durable PEX or copper.
Copper Pipe Replacement
Aging copper develops pinhole leaks, especially in our coastal climate. We replace failing copper with new copper or PEX based on your needs.
PEX Repiping Solutions
PEX is flexible, corrosion-resistant, and ideal for our climate. It installs with minimal wall damage and resists the scale and corrosion that plague older materials.
Our Repiping Process
Step 1: Comprehensive Plumbing Inspection
We assess your entire plumbing system, pipe material, age, condition, water pressure, and the location of any leaks, so we know exactly what your home needs.
Step 2: Customized Repiping Plan
What should I expect during a repipe? We map out the project: which pipes we’re replacing, the material we recommend, the timeline, and what areas of your home we’ll be working in. You’ll get a clear, written scope and quote before we start, no surprises.
Step 3: Pipe Installation
Our licensed plumbers install your new piping efficiently and to code. How long does a repipe take? Most whole-home repipes are completed in a few days depending on the size of the home and complexity. Will I be without water? We work to minimize downtime, you may have water shut off for portions of the workday, but we restore service each evening whenever possible so your household keeps running.
Step 4: Pressure Testing
Before we close anything up, we pressure-test the entire new system to confirm there are no leaks and that everything performs as it should.
Step 5: Final Quality Inspection
We verify the installation meets Florida building codes and our own standards, and we schedule any required municipal inspection.
Step 6: Cleanup & Restoration
We patch access points, clean up the work areas, and leave your home as we found it, just with new, reliable plumbing inside the walls.
Why Jacksonville Properties Often Need Repiping Earlier
Northeast Florida homes tend to need repiping sooner than homes in many other regions, and it comes down to our environment and housing stock:
- Coastal humidity — constant moisture and salt air accelerate corrosion on metal pipes
- Corrosion risks — the combination of humidity and water chemistry is hard on copper and galvanized systems
- Water quality — hard water and minerals speed up scale buildup and internal corrosion
- Aging housing inventory — much of Jacksonville’s housing predates modern plumbing materials
- Older copper and galvanized systems — these materials, common in local homes, corrode and fail faster here than in drier climates
